Hotshot is a Simulant Buddy that can appear in Perfect Dark's Co-Operative mode. He is unlocked by completing the mission Area 51: Infiltration on Special Agent in under 5:00. He is a generic Carrington Institute soldier sharing the face of Lawrence Foster, the firing range assistant of the private military research center, though this is only for the original Nintendo 64 version.
Analysis
Hotshot is, as his name implies, an exceptionally fast and accurate shot. He dual-wields two DY357s but the magnums themselves are separate models; Hotshot carries the deadly DY357-LX in his right hand and a DY357 Magnum in his left hand, giving him a unique arsenal. He sometimes uses the DY357 Magnum, but tends to end most gunfights quickly with its far more powerful golden counterpart. In terms of character, Hotshot can be considered a male counterpart of Velvet Dark due to the two being CI soldiers wielding a handgun. He is also especially considered the permanent ally version of both Jonathan Steinberg and Trent Easton, as he shares their weapons of choice and marksmanship skills.
Voice Clips
Hotshot's voice clips are shared with the generic male enemies that are encountered in the missions. He uses the set of voice clips that can be heard on most enemies. There will be a few lines he says that are rarely heard unless the player pays close attention when they are near him. Unlike the ones encountered, Hotshot doesn't have any lines said when he is killed to prevent any shame upon the player's ally's death.

Trivia
- Hotshot is one of the few characters to wield the lethal DY357-LX. The others include Trent Easton (the original owner of the weapon), and the special Area 51 guard in the Maian SOS bonus mission, wielding two of them. He is also the only non-enemy guard who carries it in Perfect Dark.
- Hotshot will define his enemies as female regardless of gender or race when he spots them. This is due to his voice clips being shared with generic male enemies and that they are meant to be used towards Joanna Dark.
- Considering his weaponry and marksmanship skills, Hotshot is likely an elite version of Carrington Institute's guards seen in the defense mission, despite wearing the same uniform and not using any kind of automatic guns.
- He is the only Buddy to dual-wield weapons, and only NPC in the game to carry different firearms at once.
- Due to Hotshot wielding the DY357-LX, he can be considered a powerful ally against heavily armed enemies and the Skedar. This is especially true when fighting the Skedar King(s) in Skedar Ruins and WAR!.
- He is a combination of Trent Easton and Jonathan Stienberg, as Hotshot simultaneously carries their signature firearms and is technically a good-alignment counterpart of the former.
- Hotshot actually wields his two separate revolvers in the same hands Trent and Jonathan held their respective weapons; Easton is right-handed with his DY357-LX, while Jonathan, with his DY357 Magnum, is left-handed in the Area 51 missions (although he uses his right in other appearances).
